Chester Fredricks Obituary

Chester D. Fredricks, age 85, of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away March 7, 2023, at his home. He was born August 31, 1937, in Ottawa, KS, the son of Chester R. Fredricks and Genevieve Effie (Andrews) Fredricks.  Chester was a lifelong Williamsburg residents graduating from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1955.

Chester was a lifelong farmer and cattle stockman operating Fredricks Farms and later in life he took his gardening professional and had Fredricks Gardens.

On June 9, 1957 Chester was united in marriage to Sheryl McBride at Princeton Methodist Church, Princeton, KS.  They shared sixty-four years of loving marriage until her death in 2021.

Chester was a member of the 15th Street Church of Christ, Ottawa, a member of the Franklin County F.S.A. Board and a Trustee of the Homewood Township.  Chester was a blessed man; he loved farming and raising cattle.  Loving what you do makes it a job that you do your entire life and that was how Chester lived.  Later in life he added his love for gardening to the list and sold his produce at the Ottawa Farmers Market.  In his younger years he enjoyed taking time off to go fishing and later in life he kept himself busy many summer hours keeping his yard looking nice and neat.  He loved his trips to Colorado with his wife and family but really he was happiest just about anywhere as long as his family was near.  He always enjoyed his grandkids and their visits and felt especially blessed that his children made sure to see him daily with their morning breakfast and evening check-ins on Dad.  His soft hearted nature was obvious to his family but it really came out in his love for all of his farm cats and especially his daucshund dog, Lucy.  Chester loved a lot of things about his life but he held his love for his family far above anything else.

Chester is survived by his son, Chester Fredricks, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Williamsburg, KS; two daughters, Justine Marie Fine, Williamsburg, KS, Michelle Renee Randall and her husband, James, Pomona, KS; eight grandchildren, Cole A. Fredricks and his wife, Kayley, Jill Nitzsche and her husband, Matt, Alisha Stroup and her husband, Caleb, Kendra Guyett and her husband, Jacob, Brooke Meiers and her husband, Wayland, Kirstie Lafikes and her husband, James, Amy Benson and her husband, Sam, Nathan Fine and is wife, Cortney; seventeen great grandchildren, Braxton Guyett, Kylee Guyett, Kord Stroup, Rylie Stroup, Kaden Meiers, Kati Meiers, Paisley Fredricks, Case Fredricks, Hayley Fredricks, Mariah Fredricks, Elsie Nitzsche, Reid Nitzsche, Coen Fredricks, Hank Fredricks, Cason Stroup, Gus Nitzsche, Hazel Marie Guyett; two great-great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.

He is preceded in death his wife, Sheryl Fredricks; his parents, Chester R. Fredricks and Genevieve Effie Fredricks; two sisters, Martha Robson, Norma Avery; and a grandson, Chet M. Fredricks.
