Darlene Bogren, 74, of Scranton, KS passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at her home. She was born August 24, 1948, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the daughter of Martin Loyd Harris and Eva Mae (Bacon) Harris.
Being a military brat the family moved quite often and she attended seven different schools until the family settled in Scranton in 1964 where she finished her education at Scranton High School.
Darlene worked at various jobs. In 1978, Darlene worked for Essex Wire Company in Topeka, KS and a coiler and forklift operator until the plant closed in 1999. She then went to work for Kidstuff for nine years.
She married Bob Tindell, they later divorced.
On September 25, 1988 she was united in marriage to Neil Bogren at Lyndon, KS. They shared over thirty-four years of marriage.
Darlene enjoyed baking, quilting, cake decorating, crafting floral arrangements, watching movies, collecting coins, marbles, chicken décor and fiesta ware. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, Chinese checkers and playing cards with family and friends. She took a special interest in photography where many of her photographs were featured on Topeka’s KSNT Channel 27. Darlene never turned down an opportunity to enjoy a banana split. Darlene will be remembered for her gracious generosity.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Martin and a step-mother, Rosabelle “Petie” Harris; and mother, Eva Mae Harris Ortiz; a brother, Leigh Harris; a sister, Cindy Booth; and a grandson, Lincoln Oakes Tindell.
Survivors include her husband, Neil Bogren of the home; two sons, Robert A. Tindell of Topeka, KS and Bill Tindell and wife, Whitney of Muskogee, OK; brother, Marion Harris of Carbondale, KS; a sister, Carroll Schooler and husband, Ronnie of Scranton, KS; brother, Kenny Harris of Burlingame, KS; five grandchildren, Brendan, Jaden, Trey, Gage and Juliana; and four great-grandchildren, Amelia, Oliver, Jace and Brielle.
To Celebrate Darlene’s Life, a memorial service will be held on her birthday, 11 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Cross Road Community Church, 512 Mason Street, Scranton, KS 66537, followed by a celebratory birthday luncheon. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. before the service at the Church. Inurnment will follow the luncheon at the Highland Cemetery, Scranton, KS.
