Daryl W. Shutt, 88, of Ottawa, KS passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at the Wellsville Retirement Community, Wellsville, KS. He was born July 3, 1934 in West Plains, MO the son of W.T. Shutt and Stella (Goodvin) Shutt.
He attended schools and graduated from High School in Wichita, KS.
Daryl served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1952 to 1959.
He was united in marriage to Lynn Kay Smay on November 1, 1958 in Ottawa, KS. They shared fifty-one years of marriage before her passing on April 13, 2010.
Daryl was a Fireman for Ottawa, Kansas Fire Department from 1967 to 1976. He then served as an officer with the Ottawa Public Safety/Police Departments, retiring on July 1, 1996.
Mr. Shutt was an avid KU & K-State sports fan, he enjoyed coaching baseball for his children’s teams, building and flying radio controlled airplanes, and spending time at the lake house with family and friends.
Surviving family includes daughter, Gayla Proctor and her partner Ted Wilson of Ottawa, KS; sons, Mark Shutt and wife Lina of Ottawa, KS, Doug Shutt and wife Rhonda of Houston, TX and Greg Shutt of Ottawa, KS; ten grandchildren, Chris, Lyndsey, Robby, Justin, Leslie, Jessica, Joshua, Joel, Matthew, and David; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shutt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynn Kay Shutt; sister, Nina Vandermotten; and two brothers, Larrel and Gordon Shutt.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa, KS Police Department D.A.R.E.
