Deborah “Debbie” Suzanne Sloan, 64 of Ottawa, Kansas left to be with God, Monday, April 27, 2026 at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born October 2, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of James Sloan and Linda Nell (Fairly) Sloan.
Debbie was a special lady. Her heart knew no bounds. Her smile knew no stranger, her laugh came quick and easy, she loved a good joke and you really had to make her mad to get her to give you her stink eye. Debbie always saw the best in people. She would keep you grounded in what was really important in life. She didn’t worry about the small stuff. Debbie was a wonderful example to all who knew her, showing them time and again that life is that “bowl of cherries”. Family and friends meant everything to her and she was so generous with all she had, her time, her smile, her help, her belongings if it was hers, it was yours. Debbie had a soft spot for any cat or dog that crossed her path, leaving out food for them, loving on them, and being a protector, for them.
Debbie lived a full and active life until her last days. She embraced going on any kind of trip. She didn’t care if it was near or far, she loved competing in the Special Olympics, she was always up for a party and a big crowd of family and friends. She loved to go shopping at Walmart. She loved the Royals, Chiefs and the Jayhawks. She had an extensive collection of DVD’s that she’d play. Debbie was the best napper ever. If you know her you have been blessed.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Marjorie Sloan and Roland and Mary Fairly.
Surviving family includes, her father, James L. Sloan of Nokomis, FL and her mother, Linda N. Sloan of Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Tamara L.
