Diana Jarrell

Diana Dicks Jarrell died December 7 at home with her husband in Wellsville, Kansas.  She was 83 years old.   A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14, at Wellsville United Methodist Church, 302 Locust Street, Wellsville.

Diana was the oldest daughter of Arthur Dicks and Ruth Boschulte Dicks.  She was born January 13, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She grew-up and graduated from high school in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated as a Physical Therapist from The University of Kansas in 1960.

Diana married Kos Rector Jarrell on March 31, 1962 in Prairie Village, Kansas.  In 1963, Diana and Kos moved to a farm near Le Loup, Kansas, where she lived for the rest of her life.  They farmed and raised three sons.   She worked as a physical therapist in Kansas City and Ottawa; the last 20 years she served at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa.  After her retirement in 2002, Diana volunteered for 15 years at Hope House, Ottawa.  She was active throughout her life in the Wellsville United Methodist Church and many community organizations.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband Kos; her sister Marcia (Ira) Paulin of Aurora, Colorado; her three sons David (Jennifer) Jarrell of Leawood, Kansas, Timothy (Lee) Jarrell of Leawood, and Dan Jarrell of Wellsville; and her 7 grandchildren Jonathan, Quentin, Genevieve, Jackson, Emma, Jake, and Page Jarrell.
