Donald Harry Martin

Donald Harry Martin, 82, of Burlingame, KS passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.  Don was born June 5, 1941 in Rock Creek, KS the son of Harry A. and Zora C. (Garner) Martin. He graduated from Meriden High School in Meriden, KS.

Don was retired from the United States Postal Service.

He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969; and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Topeka, KS since 1977.

Don married Joan E. Hallauer on September 2, 1967 in Netawaka, KS.  They shared over thirty-nine years of marriage before her passing on October 28, 2006.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wm. Jeffrey “Jeff” Martin on August 3, 1993 and a sister, Peggy Long on September 28, 2021. 

Don was an avid youth sports photographer; former baseball coach and president of the Burlingame summer Ball Association.  He was proud of his children and grandchildren and never missed an event.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Weide and her husband, Lee of Crete, NE; a son, James Martin of Cleveland, MO; grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Weide; granddaughters, Ella and Erin Martin; a sister, Sue Hallauer of Holton, KS; a brother, Mike Martin of Meriden, KS; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 30 at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, KS 66611.  Interment will follow at the Steward Cemetery, Hoyt, KS.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Avenue, Burlingame, KS 66413.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Christ Lutheran Church and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
