Donald Richard Turner, 79, of Ottawa, KS died Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS.
He was born February 26, 1942 in Ottawa, KS the son of James Richard Turner and Marian (Schall) Turner. Donald was a lifelong Franklin County resident graduating from Princeton High School with the class of 1962
Donald was in route sales for Palmer news for many years until retiring and beginning as a full-time Bus driver for U.S.D. 290 for the past ten years. Donald loved spending time with the kids and always was proud of working for the school district.
On June 16, 1972, Donald was united in marriage to Lynda M. Kasson in Topeka, KS. They recently celebrated their forty-ninth anniversary. Don and Lynda were an inseparable couple almost always seen together. Their loved radiated around them and everyone saw it when they were together.
Don was a member of the Ramblin Ranchers 4-H club and was raised in the Church of the Brethren of Ottawa. Later in life he became a devoted member to the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Turner, Ottawa; daughter, Jamie Johnson and her husband, Matt, Osawatomie, KS; sister, Margaret A. Turner, Lawrence, KS; and two grandchildren, Kinleigh Johnson and Randall Johnson both of Osawatomie, KS.
To celebrate Don’s life, a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, Ottawa. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday July 15, 2021 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa.
