Dorcas M. Bowen, age 93, of Ottawa, KS, passed away March 28, 2020, at Rock Creek, Ottawa. She was born April 13, 1926 on a farm north of Baldwin City, KS, the daughter of William H. Hull and Lula E (Horst) Hull. She moved with her family at the age of seven to the Ottawa area attending the New Union and Baxter Schools, as well as Ottawa Middle School and Ottawa High School. On August 11, 1943 Dorcas was united in marriage to James Bowen in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2001. She worked for H.D. Lee as a seamstress and supervisor from September of 1960 to December of 1989, when she retired. She went back to work in November of 2000 for the Ernest Dining service at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Ottawa. She is survived by two sons; Joe Bowen, Ottawa, James Ray Bowen, Ottawa; four grandchildren; two great granddaughters; four great grandsons; two step great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James; infant son, Richard Odell Bowen; daughter, Cathy Negrete; two brothers, Leo Hull, Harry "Bud" Hull; three sisters, Mamie Johnson, Beulah Meyers, Bonnie Hull; a granddaughter; and a grandson Private family graveside services are being held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Highland Cemetery.
