Dub Anthony McElroy

Dub Anthony McElroy, 66, of Carbondale, Kansas, passed away June 11, 2026.   

Dub was born March 17,1960 in Dermott, Arkansas, to Betty Lou Beavers McElroy and the late Irvin Ronald McElroy. 

When Dub wasn’t at work, he loved spending time outdoors, whether in his shop or tackling projects on his ever-growing “honey do” list. He often joked that if he ever retired, he wouldn't be able to stay home because Lorri would always have another project waiting for him. When he wasn’t working on the list, Dub enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar, and singing. He was especially looking forward to retirement and getting another boat so he could take his beloved “Grand Treasures” fishing. 

Dub and Lorri were married on February 2, 1979, and shared more than 47 wonderful years together. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Christopher McElroy and Stephenie McElroy Ganger. 

Throughout his career, Dub worked as a welder for Fluor Daniel at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation for 19 years, spent 3 years with BNSF Railway, and worked 10 years at Stevenson Sheet Metal before returning to Wolf Creek, where he served as a Maintenance supervisor.  

Dub is survived by his wife Lorri, who was his whole heart; his mother, Betty Lou McElroy of Rohwer, Arkansas; his son, Christopher McElroy (Briana); his daughter, Stephenie Ganger (Alex) both of Carbondale, Kansas; his brother, Grady McElroy of Rohwer, Arkansas; his sister, LaJuan Scales (Brad Mayfield) of Lake Village, Arkansas; and his brother Kevin McElroy of Lubbock, Texas.  

He also leaves behind his eight cherished “Grand Treasures”: Olivia, Peyton, Cameron, Raeya, Maxwell, Knox, Christian, and Whitley, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all agree he was the “coolest of cool”.  

Dub was preceded in death by his daddy, Irvin Ronald McElroy, and his brother, Kirby Ronald McElroy. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Drive, Overbrook, Kansas.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, at 3:00pm, at Carbondale Cemetery, 1001 east 149th Street, Carbondale, Kansas.  

Pallbearers are Brandt Scales, Taylor Scales, Ashton Humphries, Ricky Morris, Marc Forbes, and Terry Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Wade Ramsdell and Kurt Bell.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
