Edward "Ed" Carroll Lane, age 77, of Ottawa, KS, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at his home. He was born May 19, 1943 at Sedalia, MO the son of Elwood Lane and Elsie (Canada) Lane and later step-son of Arthur Stout. Ed grew up most of his life in the Olathe, Ks area, graduating from Olathe High School with the class of 1960. He also graduated from Truck Driving School and Kansas City Business College. Later in life he attained his Ministers License. Ed served his country proudly in the United States Army for three years attaining the rank of Sergeant. He also proudly served in the Air Force Reserves. Beginning in 1963, Ed began working for National Life Insurance as a salesman in Olathe. He worked there for thirty years retiring in 1993. Ed was an avid fisherman. He loved poetry and was a well-known whistler. His true love was for the Lord. He lived a god fearing life and was a powerful preacher. He started the New Life Tabernacle church in Olathe and was very proud of being a founder of such a strong church. On November 15, 1964, Ed was united in marriage to Helen Marie Williams in Kansas City, MO. Ed and Helen celebrated their 55th year of marriage this past November. Ed is survived by his wife, Helen Marie Lane, Ottawa; two sons, William Edward Lane and his wife, Roberta, Ottawa, Robert Carroll Lane and his wife, Thelma, Manhattan, KS; daughter, Melissa Monica Lane Brandon and her husband, Michael, Ottawa; sister, Alfrieda Cantrell, Gardner, KS; fourteen grandchildren, Rebecca, Angela, Scott, Steve, Dean, Ariel, Christie, Austin, Andy, Daniel, Alisha, Sara, Brandon, Christopher; and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Eric Ross; two sisters, Shirley Ulrey and Ella Mae Motta. Funeral services will be held at 6:30p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Living Way Apostolic Church, Ottawa. Burial will occur 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
