Edwin Earl Waller

Edwin Earl Waller age 79, of Overbrook, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his home. He was born August 18, 1934 in Garnett, Kansas the son of Chester Albert and Margaret Irene (Manspeaker) Waller. Edwin moved with his family in his youth to Overbrook and was a near lifelong resident graduating from Overbrook High School with the class of 1954. He was a longtime propane gas truck driver for Tutcher's and eventually Heatco. He was also a 46 year volunteer firefighter for the Osage County Fire District #4 retiring in 2006. Edwin enjoyed fishing and hunting in his early years. He and Vera always kept a large garden in the summers that he loved to tend to. He was always helpful to his friends and especially his family. He loved his family dearly and loved to see them. When he could he really enjoyed the Casino. As the years progressed he spent many hours in his basement whittling wooden chains. Edwin will be forever remembered for many things but his family and his friends will always think of him when the smell of pipe tobacco hits their nose. Edwin always had his pipe and it was rare to not see him with it in his mouth being puffed on while he hauled his load down the road. On March 7, 1964, Edwin was united in marriage to Vera A. McDowell, in Overbrook, Kansas. They just celebrated 50 years of loving marriage together. Vera survives of their home. Edwin is also survived by two sons; Edwin E. Waller, Jr., of Towanda, James D. Waller and his wife, Ginny, of Overbrook, two brothers; Clifford Waller of Osage City, Albert J. Waller of Overbrook, a sister; Thelma J. Moore of Chugiak, Alaska, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sister; Irma, Leon, Leta, and a son; Joseph Earl Waller. The Waller family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, Overbrook. Memorial Services will be July 30, 2014 at 2p.m. at the funeral home.
