Elizabeth "Betty" Cooper Obituary

 

Elizabeth (Betty) L. Rowe Fedrizzi Cooper was born June 2, 1925 in Scranton, KS to William W. Rowe and Melissa M. Jolly. She graduated from Scranton High School in 1943. She attended nursing school at Christ Hospital (currently known as Stormont Vail) graduating in August 1946 and received her Colorado nursing license in 1947. Betty took a position as a Public Health Nurse on the Ute Native American Reservation in Durango, CO. She provided health services to multiple Native American populations throughout the San Juan Basin area for over 32 years and received numerous commendations for her work. She was married and widowed by Alcide Fedrizzi and Charles Cooper. Betty retired as a nurse in 1982 and spent her time volunteering with Hospice and being a family care giver.

Betty was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, attending in Durango Colorado and Scranton Kansas. The last decade of her life she lived at Brookside Retirement Community before passing away peacefully on Friday, August 27 2021.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother William R. Rowe. She is survived by her sister-in-law Darla Rowe, nephews William A. Rowe (Laura) and Marc S. Rowe (Pam), Uncle Jim Jolly (Martha), and many great nieces and nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Activities Department of Brookside Retirement Community and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Drive, Overbrook, KS 66524.

A graveside service will take place at Scranton Cemetery at 10:30am on Thursday, September 2nd. It is located on S Lewelling Rd and W 165th St in Scranton, KS.  Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
