Ellsworth Floyd Good

Ellsworth “Floyd” Good, 84, of Scranton, KS passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his home.  He was born September 13, 1938 in Herrick, South Dakota the son of John Robert Good and Velma (Bell) Good.  The family moved to Fort Scott, KS where Floyd attended school and worked on the family farm. 

On November 19, 1959 Floyd was united in marriage with Dorothy “Carolyn” Geter in Wichita, Kansas.  They shared over fifty-two years of marriage before the death of Carolyn on October 5, 2013.  They lived in Burlingame, Kansas for twenty years prior to moving to Scranton, Kansas in 2006. 

Floyd was a heavy equipment operator who owned and operated Good Excavating in Topeka, KS from 1975 to 1982.  He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101 Topeka, KS since November 1, 1957.

Floyd was a member of Grace Community Church in Overbrook, KS.  He enjoyed riding and training race horses.  He enjoyed hunting especially raccoons. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. 

Mr. Good was preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma Good; his wife, Carolyn Good; and a son, Michael Tad Good who passed in January of 2021. 

He is survived by, a daughter, Tara Lynne Good of Wichita, KS; a son, Troy Bryan Good and wife, Melissa of Baldwin City, KS; a daughter-in-law, Deb Good of Topeka, KS; three sisters, Marlene Barningham of Topeka, KS, Delores White and husband, Jim of Wichita, KS and Carol Faye Good of Texas;  eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Grace Community Church, 310 E. 8th Street, Overbrook, KS 66524.  Graveside services and Inurnment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 914 215th Street, Fort Scott, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Church and sent to Lamb-Robert-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
