Etta Mae Tripp, 82, of Overbrook, KS passed peacefully, Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS.
She was born April 18, 1939 in Potosi, MO the daughter of Roy and Olive (Winfield) Warden. She graduated from Valley High School in 1957. On September 16, 1961, Etta Mae was united in marriage to David Tripp in Topeka, KS. They enjoyed 46 years of loving marriage until David passed on March 14, 2007.
Etta Mae retired from the Kansas Department of Human Resources. Her and David were very active with the Ozawkie American Legion Post 225 for many years. Etta Mae enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished quilter. She enjoyed a simple life, watching NASCAR and baseball, especially the Royals and the Cardinals where she jousted with her sisters when they played each other. She liked keeping up with her siblings, as well as other friends and family, through daily phone calls. Etta Mae was a soft-spoken lady with a gigantic heart and always willing to help others. She loved seeing her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, and above all, her beloved pup, Misty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Olive Warden; her husband, David Tripp; and her brothers, Dale, Wendy, and Percy; and sisters, Liz, Pauline, and Jeanette.
She is survived by brothers Bud, Dan and Sam and sisters Hopie a daughter, Lori Slusser and her husband, Michael, of Overbrook, KS; four granddaughters, Heather Offner and her husband, Caleb, of Topeka, KS, Brooke Allen of Overbrook, KS, Lauren Slusser of Topeka, KS, and Ashley DiPerna of Mooresville, NC; and 5 great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Hunter, Lincoln, Emery, and Isabel.
To celebrate Etta Mae’s life, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Dr., Overbrook, KS 66524. Interment will follow at Meridan Cemtery, Meridan, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Overbrook American Legion Post 239 and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
