Evon Faye Wilson, 72, of Ottawa, KS died Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Rock Creek in Ottawa, Kansas.

She was born July 6, 1951 in Coolidge, Arizona the daughter of Jesse James and Mary Ruth (Drew) Gentry. As a child, Evon picked cotton.

On July 6, 1979, Evon was united in marriage to Ernest Wilson in Seattle, Arizona.  They moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 1996, where they spent the rest of their 44 years together. 

After moving to Ottawa, Evon began working as a caregiver and at ECKAN Head Start preschool.  She was a good mother and a loyal wife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mary Gentry; three sisters, Helen Hubbard, Louise Guitereze, and Mary Stone; and two brothers, Jerry Gentry and Kenneth Gentry.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Wilson; four sons, Jesse Wilson of the home, Eli Wilson of Idaho, Steven Wilson, Lynn Wilson of Alaska; two daughters, Crystal and Tammy; a sister, Diane Karkos of Texas; three brothers, Jim Gentry of Tennessee, Buddy Gentry of Tulare, CA, and Neil Gentry of Fort, WA; and two grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Community Foursquare Chapel, Ottawa, KS.  To celebrate Evon’s life, a visitation will be held before the service at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Community Foursquare Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to Community Foursquare Church and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
