Fannie E. Ainsworth, 74, of Ottawa, KS died Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Advent Health of Shawnee Mission, Shawnee Mission, KS.
She was born March 21, 1948 in Winchester, Kentucky the daughter of William Henry Willoughby and Maudie Ann (Reed) Willoughby. Fannie grew up in Kentucky and later in life moved to Ottawa, KS, raising her family there. Fannie was the matriarch of her family. She was the shelter they all came back to in times of need or just to come home. Fannie took care of everyone as her own and was kind but stern. She didn’t tolerate people who didn’t treat others right but she loved anyone with a soft and kind heart.
Fannie’s caring personality carried over into her professional life. She was a Nurse’s Aide for most of her professional career. She loved be a comfort for those in need and was always quick to get her job accomplished. Fannie was a hard worker and an example for her entire family. She never quit until a job was done.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Ruth Marie Willoughby, Virginia Baber; a son, Leon Baber, Jr.; a brother, Henry Thomas Willoughby; and five sisters, Tilde May Johnson, Leona Yarber, Juanita Richardson, Pearl Marie Willoughby, and Mary Gentry Robinson.
She is survived by a daughter, Chasity Dawn Rice, Ottawa; son Mark Wayne Baber, Ottawa; a sister, Anna Bell Willoughby, Clay City, KY; and nine grandchildren, Austin Michael Johnson, Christopher Bryan Baber, Kiersten Rennee Baber, Drake Leon Baber, Joseph Wayne Keuchel, Livid Dawn Brewer, Alexander Reed Brewer, Thomas Monroe Brewer, and Lilly Rose Rice.
