Floyd E. "Eddie" Trout

Floyd E. “Eddie” Trout, Jr. age 83 of Overbrook, KS passed away Wednesday June 8, 2022 at Midland Care Hospice House.

Eddie was born September 2, 1938 on the family farm in Douglas County by Twin Mound, the son of Floyd E. Trout, Sr. and Mary Alice (Schirmer) Trout. Eddie was a lifelong resident of rural Overbrook, Kansas, attending Twin Mound Elementary School and Overbrook High School.

Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years and then eight years in the Army Reserves.

After his military service, Eddie began working at Sears Department Store in Topeka eventually becoming a Mechanic in the auto service department from 1958 to his retirement in 2003.

On October 30, 1962, Eddie was united in marriage to Kay Kistner at Topeka, KS.  They celebrated fifty nine years of loving marriage together. 

Eddie was a family man.  He loved his wife and kids and of course he loved to spoil his grandkids.  One of his favorite times was going fishing with the grandsons and his son to the pond, creek, or lake on Sundays.  He enjoyed raising cattle on his farm and gardening and keeping his yard neat a full of beautiful flowers, so he had flowers for his wife, Kay.  Eddie loved to spend time with family but his great granddaughters always could win his heart.  They were always happy to see their “Papa”.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Floyd E Trout, Sr. and Mary Alice Trout; a sister, Mary; and a grandson, Jess Trout.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Trout, Overbrook, KS; four children, James Trout and his wife, Shelly, Overbrook, KS, Mike Trout, and his wife, Rachelle, Nebraska, Kevin Trout and his wife Rhonda, Lebanon, MO, Virginia Trout-Waller and her husband, James, Overbrook, KS; four siblings, Bill Trout, Osage City, KS, Larry Trout and his wife, Jean, Baldwin City, KS, John Trout and his wife, Sharon, Overbrook, KS, Dorothy Wulfkuhle and her husband Duane, Carbondale, KS; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Overbrook United Methodist Church, Overbrook, KS.   The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website for friends wanting to pay their respects.  Interment will follow at Twin Mound Cemetery, Overbrook, KS.  The family will greet friends for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Overbrook, KS.  The family suggest memorials to the Midland Hospice be sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
