Gary M. Buek, 82 of Burlingame, KS passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City, KS. He was born March 7, 1939 in Topeka, KS the son of Hayden and Nadine (Morgan) Buek. He grew up and graduated from Burlingame High School with the Class of 1957.
Gary was united in marriage to Virginia Ward. She passed away October 25, 1962. From this union four children were born, Pam, Richard, John and William. Gary married Shirley Shoemaker on May 1, 1965 in Perry, KS. From this union one child was born, Bradley. They have shared over fifty-six years of marriage.
After thirty-one years, Gary retired as a Supervisor at Hallmark Cards in Topeka, KS. He was a farmer and raised livestock on the family farm for many years.
He was a member of the Burlingame Federated Church. Gary enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed playing Pitch.
Mr. Buek was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; and two sisters, Beverly Hoffer and Carolee Hendersen.
Surviving family includes his wife, Shirley of the home; a daughter, Pam Sims and husband, Jerry of Canton, GA; four sons, Richard Buek of Topeka, KS, John Buek of Burlingame, KS, William Buek of Topeka, KS and Ret. Lt. Col. Brad Buek and wife Melissa of Acworth, GA; a sister, Jane Roth of Burlingame, KS; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
To celebrate Gary’s life, a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Federated Church, 322 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame, KS 66413. Interment will follow at the Burlingame Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S.
