George Robert Franks, 74, of Ottawa, KS died Thursday June 27, 2024 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission.
He was born March 28, 1950 in Ottawa, KS the son of George William Franks, Jr. and Alice (Anderson) Franks. George grew up in Franklin County mainly living in Pomona, KS.
George was a long Haul over the road truck driver his entire professional career. He was currently driving for Richard Hanning Trucking. He loved his job and enjoyed his many miles on the American roads that he covered.
On June 16, 1978, George was united in marriage to Libby Humphreys at Community Four Square Church, Ottawa, KS. They shared forty-six years of marriage.
George enjoyed golfing and loved to ride motorcycles when he was able to. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He and Libby invested many hours building their 1923 T-bucket Roadster hot rod. It took them seven years but together, they made a beautiful car they were both very proud of and loved to get and ride together in.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Franks; son, Travis Franks; and two sisters, Shirley Elder and Stella Heuer.
George is survived by his wife, Libby Franks, Ottawa, KS; son, Jarod Franks and his wife, Jamie, Ottawa, KS; brother, Virgil Franks, Waverly, KS; three sisters, Peggy Sumner, Richmond, KS, Margaret Nicholson, Ottawa, KS, Mary Humerickhouse, Olathe, KS; and four grandchildren, Chance Gendre, Aydin Franks, Owen Franks, and Grayson Franks.
A Celebration of George’s life will be 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday July 21, 2024 at the Pomona Community Center, Pomona, KS.
