Glenda Tillery Obituary

Glenda Sue Tillery, 71, of Ottawa, KS went fishin’ on Saturday, July 9, 2022.  She joined her husband Ray Elmo Tillery who was already fishin’ since April 9, 2012. While she is away, her daughters and their families are taking the watch.

Before Glenda went fishin’ earlier this month, she lived outside Ottawa in the country where her heart was happy.  She was a nature-driven woman who loved to share stories and was dedicated to giving more to others than she had.  She was born to Vivian and Marcus Seabolt in Fort Worth, Texas, September 9, 1950.  From that day forward, she unceasingly sent ripples of kindness and compassion that touched too many to count.

We would joke about mom’s rose-colored glasses as she could find good anywhere.  She was fiercely independent so as not to shutter the fullness of her spirit.  Her eyes held the smiles of her stories, just as they held the harder ones with compassionate tears and sorrow.  She lived many lives while here on Earth and we will remember her most out in nature, as a magnificent chef, researching farming, and her passionate pursuits of all things family. In the end, her body was too small for all the life she had in her.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Tillery; parents, Vivian and Marcus Seabolt; a sister, Martha Ann Seabolt; and a son-in-law, aka bonus son, Jeff Young.

Surviving family includes three daughters, Abby Young and partner Jason Olenberger of Lawrence, KS, Amy Gregg and husband Frank Gregg of Ottawa, KS, and Angela Motsinger and husband Shad Motsinger of Baldwin City, KS; three granddaughters, Shelby Eckard and husband Dylan Eckard, Megan Gregg, and Hannah Motsinger; four grandsons, Tristan Godinez, Jacob Gregg, Zachary Motsinger and Trenton Gregg; a great-grandson, bebe Jackson;  brother, James Seabolt; sister, Connie Phillips; sister-in-law, Jean Komala; nine nieces and nephews along with multiple great nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Glenda’s life a visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
