Glenola Marie Hayward, 89, Ottawa, KS passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. She was born February 25, 1927 in Pratt, Kansas the daughter of Glen A. and Elsie M. (Umstot) Hayward. She attended Fouts and Hood Country grade schools in Ottawa, KS. She graduated from the Ottawa High School in 1945. She graduated from Ottawa University in 1949 with a B.A. Degree and received a Master's Degree in Education in 1957 from The University of Kansas. Glenola taught at Williamsburg High School for four years; Iola Junior High School for two years; and Ottawa High School for ten years. She later worked as a Market Research Interviewer for seventeen years before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ottawa enjoyed Samaritan Circle, Senior Adults and Church Council; a member of Franklin County Historical Society; Rotary Ann's; Ottawa University Women's Education Society; Ottawa Area Retired Teachers Association; National Retired Teachers Association; American Cancer Society and Ottawa Friend of the Library and Franklin County Republican Women. Glenola was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Elsie Hayward. She is survived by numerous cousins. Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
