Harold E. Myers (Manny), age 85 of Baldwin City, KS passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2023 at Morningstar Care Home, Baldwin City, KS, with his family by his side.
Harold was born December 14, 1937 the son of Howard A. Myers and Laura E. (Fager) Myers at the Telephone Exchange in Centropolis, KS. He attended Minneola Grade School in Centropolis and graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1955. He then attended Kansas State University for a year.
On May 9, 1973 Harold was united in marriage to Wanda Sue (Susie) Coleman in Baldwin City, KS. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary this past May.
Harold started his working life as an office clerk at Ottawa CO-OP. At the time he was the youngest office clerk ever hired by a CO-OP in the state of Kansas. He then began working for the Kansas Gas Company eventually working his way up to Superintendent of the Ottawa Division. In addition to his employment at Kansas Gas he worked as a realtor and was a well know third-generation Auctioneer as well as working at the Franklin County Sale Barn.
In his retirement Harold enjoyed his many trips west to the desert. Over the years he and Sue spent time in Phoenix, AZ, Tucson, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and Laughlin, NV. They loved their time together enjoying the open road. Harold also took a great deal of pride in watching his grandkids with their various sports activities. He loved to cheer them on in whatever sport they were a part of.
Harold is survived by his wife Sue Myers, Baldwin City, KS; four children, Melody Brennon, Pittsburg, KS, Darren Myers, Branson, MO, Chad Myers, Soldier, KS, Kari Lash, Baldwin City, KS; ones step son; one step daughter; six grandchildren, one step granddaughter; and five great grandchildren with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his father, Howard A. Myers; mother, Laura E. (Fager) Myers; stepmother, Olive McKee (Whitman) Myers; a brother, sister and one stepson.
Private graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Union Cemetery, Douglas County, KS, as per Harold’s request, immediate family only.
