Helen Louise Coldsnow died on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at The Bluffs Long Term Care facility, in Columbia, Missouri.
Helen was born April 6, 1932, in Ottawa, Kansas, to parents Harry and Loretta (Schaub) Day. She was the second of three children and attended Ottawa High School, graduating with the class of 1950.
She worked for Southwestern Bell in Ottawa for a few years before marrying Ronald Coldsnow in 1953. Daughter Kimberly Ann was born in 1958 and son Scott Alan was born in 1960 while living in Joplin, Missouri.
After divorcing in 1967, Helen and the kids moved back to Ottawa, where she began her employment in the accounting department with Gulf Oil, in Kansas City. Gulf Oil later merged with Chevron. After working numerous years in the Kansas City office, she was eventually transferred to Houston, TX and then Concord, CA. Helen retired in 1986 after 20 years of service with Chevron.
After retirement and moving back to Kansas City, Helen worked for several other employers, including Stein Mart for five years, and J.S. Reece for seven years.
She loved her family, friends, reading, gardening, and watching her grandchildren grow.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jack. Survivors include sister Carol Hiatt (Terry) of Ottawa, KS; daughter Kim Moriarity (Tim), of Columbia, MO; son Scott Coldsnow, of Paola, KS; two grandchildren, Aaron Hanson (Marina) and Amanda Wilson (Regan); four great-grandchildren, Chase, Jack, Zoey and Corbin; a niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service and burial will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s Choice and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067. Immediately following the burial, family and friends are invited for fellowship and light refreshments at Grace Community Fellowship Church, 501 S. Poplar St., Ottawa, KS 66067.
