Jack Ostermann Obituary

Jack Lee Ostermann, 80, formerly of Baldwin City, KS passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home in Deepwater, MO. Jack was born May 20, 1941 in Charles City, Iowa the son of Herman L. Ostermann and Dorothy (Woods) Ostermann. He grew up and attended schools in Charles City, Iowa graduating High School with the Class of 1960.  He later earned an Associates Degree at Anoka- Ramsey College in Cambridge, Minnesota.

He was united in marriage to Andi Andrews on May 12, 2007 at The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. They shared over fourteen years of marriage.

Jack was a Mechanic for the United Parcel Service in Lenexa, KS for over thirty years.  At an early age Jack worked with his father in the construction of buildings. Jack later worked at a Cadillac Dealership and Harvestore both in Nevada, MO. In 1984 he moved to Baldwin City, KS. He farmed and raised livestock which included, cattle, chickens, sheep and championship pigeons.

Jack was a member of several vintage car clubs.  He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening, Nascar and the Minnesota Vikings.

Mr. Ostermann was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Ostermann; and a sister, Jan Ploeger.  Survivors include his wife, Andi of the home; a daughter, Julie Robbins and husband Bill of Lawrence, KS; Joseph Ostermann and wife Melisssa of Olathe, KS; two step-daughters, Kathy Durkee and husband Bruce of Shawnee Mission, KS and Julie Cockrell of Kansas City, MO; two step-sons, Alan Koch of Overland Park, KS and Larry Koch and wife Sherry of Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Sue Allen and husband Chuck of Charles City, IA and Terry Wenthe and husband Mark of Altoona, IA; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

To celebrate Jack’s life, the family will receive friends 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 712 9th Street, Baldwin City, KS 66006.  A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church in Clinton, MO or the Golden Valley Cancer Center in Clinton, MO.  Condolences may be sent to the Ostermann family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
