James “Junior”. Hargett, age 84, of Baldwin City, KS, passed away February 21, 2023, at his residence. He was born January 9, 1939 in Richland, MO, the son of James Franklin Hargett and Olive Lorene (Miller) Hargett. He grew up in the Belton, MO area moving to the Baldwin City area in the 1960’s.
Junior was a lifelong farm laborer working for Hagerman and Craig Farms, Inc. in 1967.
On September 27, 1957 Junior was united in marriage to Hilda Risch in Salisbury, MO. Hilda preceded Junior in death on May 28, 2019.
Junior was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Darrell Hargett; two brothers, Kenneth Hargett, Richard Hargett; and two sisters, Marjorie Cron and Kathleen Harris.
He is survived by his children; James Dean Hargett, Topeka, KS, Terry Jerome Hargett, Garnett, KS, Mark T. Hargett, Baldwin City, KS, Judy Coble, Baldwin City, KS; brother, Dallas Hargett, Baldwin City, KS; three sisters, Betty Porter, Salisbury, MO, Berenice Howell, Franktown, CO, Edith Murray, Baldwin City, KS; five grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Jacob, Madison, Ronna; and nine great grandchildren.
Junior has been cremated and private family services are planned at this time. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
