James (Jim) Edwin Lewis of Ottawa, Kansas passed away peacefully January 12 at the age of 75. Jim was born in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School, where he played basketball. He attended KU, where he and his roomies were rabid Jayhawk basketball fans. Jim was active in the Kansas City “film world,” helping on a number of local film productions, making his own film that he entered in the Kansas City Film Festival and elsewhere. For many years Jim worked at Lights On Kansas City. Jim worked on numerous Independent and documentary films and even appeared in TV commercials. Jim loved cats, who seemed to know where to get a good meal and home. No flowers please.
Memorial Services will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Ottawa, KS. A meal will follow the service. Memorials should be designated either for the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Ottawa or the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
