Jan Ketchum Obituary

Jan Lynn Ketchum, 65, of Ottawa, KS passed away Sunday, January, 9, 2022 at her home. She was born February 26, 1956 in Lincoln, NE the daughter of Lee Roy Christenson and Marjorie Ann (Snyder) Christenson.  She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1974 in Oklahoma City, OK. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK where she met her husband.

Jan was united in marriage to William Ketchum on June 26, 1977 in Oklahoma City, OK.  They shared over forty-four years of marriage in Michigan and Kansas.

Jan returned to work as Technology Aide for Eisenhower and Garfield Elementary Schools in Ottawa, KS for 12 years before leaving to care for her grandchildren.  Her passions were keeping her husband in check, taking care of her extensive garden at her home, swimming during the summers and being an amazing grandmother. The thing that set Jan apart from others and cannot be replaced is her ability to be a guiding light to anyone that was fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of always helping you make the right choice, always ready to listen and be there for anyone. She was always the first person that her family and friends would reach out to.

Mrs. Ketchum was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Marjorie Christenson.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Ketchum of the home; a son, Steven Ketchum of Ottawa, KS; two daughters, Lisa Ketchum and her husband, Tyler Hatch of Ottawa, KS and Megan Ketchum and her husband, Charles “Chad” Seigneur of Philadelphia, PA;  two grandchildren, Deacon and Kaley Hatch of Ottawa, KS; a sister, Jane Ewalt and her husband, Joe of Edmond, OK; a brother, Bret Christenson and his wife, Lorrie of Springdale, AR; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
