Janice L Yokum

Janice L. Yokum, 86, of Topeka, KS died Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Olathe, Kansas.

She was born July 26, 1939 in Garnett, Kansas the daughter of Winston Yokum and Mary (Brown) Yokum. She would go to Ottawa High School graduating with the class of 1957. Janice would then attend Clark Business School of Topeka, Kansas before graduating in 1958. 

Janice’s professional career began as an accountant for National Life and Accident Insurance Company later working for the State of Kansas Department of Revenue also as an accountant until she retired in 2007.

She had an involved social life and was a member of the Red Hat Society of Topeka, KS and the Beta Sigma Phi of Topeka, KS. Janice also had a strong faith and was a devoted member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Ottawa, KS.

Throughout her life Janice had many hobbies, including sewing, flower gardening, and handcrafting teddy bears and rabbits. Janice was also an avid collector who specialized in Barbie Dolls and Hallmark Christmas ornaments. She also deeply enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston Yokum and Mary (Brown) Yokum; two brothers, James and Marvin Yokum; and one sister, Nila Olmstead. 

Janice is survived by two nieces, LeeAndrea Olmstead of Overland Park, KS and Bridget Adamson and husband David of Newnan, GA; one nephew, Chad Olmstead of Hays, KS; four great-nephews, Geovanni Adamson, Tyson Adamson, Logan Olmstead, and Kolby Olmstead; and one great-niece, Morgan Olmstead.

Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday April 7, 2026 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
