Jean Branson

Jean Branson, age 87 of Overbrook, KS, passed away May 20, 2020 at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, KS. She was born in Battle Creek, MI on January 11, 1933 the daughter of Edward Bassett and Lois (Robb) Bassett. Jean grew up in Battle Creek, MI graduating from high School there in 1951. She then moved to the Topeka area for work. On November 22, 1952, Jean was united in marriage to Delbert Branson at Holton, KS. They shared fifty-three years of loving marriage together until the death of Delbert in 2006. Jean worked most of her life in many different roles at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, KS. She loved her job and her many friends that she worked with over the years. Caring for people came natural to Jean and working at Brookside only showed that more. Jean is survived by a son, Ralph Branson of Overbrook; six grandchildren, James Branson of Tennessee, Geneva Branson of Riley, KS, Mahala Sowers of Overbrook, Charlie Branson of Overbrook, Barbara Sue Shannon of Wichita, Georgie Marie Branson of Wichita; and several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Branson; her parents, Edward and Lois Bassett; son, Charlie Branson; sister, Marjorie Hanlan; and a brother, William Bassett. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday May 30, 2020 at Valley Brook Cemetery.
