Obituary
Jean Eileen Brooks, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Morningstar Care Home in Baldwin City, KS. She was born March 16, 1934 in Hays, KS the daughter of Edward and Alice (Fink) Dumler. She grew up in Russell, KS and graduated from Russell High School, Russell, KS with the Class of 1952.
On January 25, 1957 at Trinity Methodist Church in Russell, KS she was united in marriage to Gary Clifton Brooks. They shared over sixty-three years of marriage before the death of her husband on October 15, 2020.
Jean graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She received a Master of Arts degree in Library Science from The University of Denver in 1963.
In 1966, Jean became certified by the State of Indiana as a Librarian III. She was employed as a librarian for many years.
Jean was a member of the American Library Association. She enjoyed collecting Snoopy memorabilia with her husband and also enjoyed raising German Shepherds.
Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alice Dumler; her husband, Gary Brooks; and a brother, Larry Edward Dumler. She is survived by a niece, Susan Brooks of Lawrence, KS.
Cremation is planned.
