Jeffrey Dale Fredricks

Jeffrey Dale Fredricks, 57 of Ottawa, KS peacefully passed away to meet his Lord and Savior in Heaven after bravely battling complications related to heart disease, on the afternoon of Wednesday May 18, 2016. He was surrounded by those who love him at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Jeff was born in Ottawa, KS on October 20, 1958. He was the second child and first born son to Patricia and Herbert Fredricks. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School with the class of 1976 and continued his education by attending Flint Hills technical School, Emporia, Kansas earning certification in the field of welding. After graduation he worked as a pipe fitter and welder for many years. He also was a Trailer Mechanic for ten years at U.P.S. Jeff was an avid sports fan. Not only did he play various sports throughout his high school days, but also proudly sat in the stands at Orlis Cox Field to cheer on his boys as they played baseball. Hunting and fishing were favorite past times as well. Many family vacations were spent wading through the streams of Colorado with a spinning rod in hand. The Bible was his favorite book. Countless hours were spent thumbing through its pages and committing passages to memory. Being a Father and a Grandfather were the most important things in his life. The amount of joy he received from his children's and grandchildren's visits is impossible to describe. He was a dear son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be sorely missed. Jeff was preceded in death by his father Herbert Fredricks. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Fredricks; son, Jeremy; son, Tyler and his wife, Andrea; ex-wife Jeri Kiefer; sister Christie Gorton and her husband, Brent; sister, Lisa VanLerburg and her husband, Ron; brother, Bill Fredricks and his wife, Stephanie; grandchildren Max and Carlie; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday before the service at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home.
