Jerry Knapp

Jerry Knapp, 85, of Ottawa, KS passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab in Baldwin City, KS.  He was born January 23, 1939 in Kansas City, MO the son of Virgil Knapp and Juanita (McAdams) Knapp.

He served his country in the United States Navy, Army and Air Force.  He worked for the Kansas City, KS Police Department for ten years and was a Reserve Officer for other Departments.  He later worked for the Franklin County, KS Sheriff’s Department for three years.  He worked at GM and Ford Plants in Kansas City. He was a locomotive engineer retiring from Union Pacific Railroad in 1999 after thirty years of service. 

Jerry’s favorite past times were riding motorcycles and watching movies. 

Mr. Knapp was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Juanita Knapp; and a son, Rocky Knapp.

Surviving family includes, his wife, Kathy Knapp of thirty-eight years; a sister, Karen (Jim) Gray of Kansas City, KS; and children, Sheri (Steve) Peters of Foster, MO, Gina (Bob) Eck of St. Louis, MO, Ronie Knapp Green of Kansas City, KS, Danny (Brandi) Knapp of Kansas City, KS, Wendy (Mark) Anfinson of Overland Park, KS, and Shannon Roth of Joplin, MO; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed.
