Johnny Foster Obituary

Johnny Rae Foster, 76, of Baldwin City, KS died Friday, March 13, 2026, at AdventHealth in Ottawa, Kansas. He passed away with his beloved wife at his bedside.

He was born May 5, 1949 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania the only son of Alice E. (Davison) Foster. Johnny graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1968.

On January 7, 1968, Johnny was united in marriage to Judy Barbara Mohler at Lawrence Methodist Church in Lawrence, Kansas. The couple would share over 58 years of loving marriage.

He lived in Hutchinson and Princeton, KS before moving to Ottawa, KS in 1974 and then to Baldwin City, KS in 2024. Johnny began his working life in the oil fields. Eventually he worked as a crane operator for Wolf Creek. Finally, Johnny would go on to own and operate his own janitorial service until he retired in 1995.

Outside of work, Johnny enjoyed spending time at the aquarium, hunting, fishing, flower gardening around his house, teasing his friends, and spending time with his pets, a dove and sheltie dogs. He was also a barbeque extraordinaire, a great cook, and excellent winemaker.

Johnny had a strong faith and was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall of Ottawa, KS. He especially enjoyed having fellow brothers and sisters over for a barbeque and volunteering at the assemblies.

Most of all, he loved being with his family and staying busy. Johnny was a talker and is best known for never letting a friend get by without having a little conversation first. He was also quite the jokester, always wanting to make people laugh.

Johnny was preceded in death by his son, Jamie (James) Ray Foster (deceased February 14, 2015) and his mother, Alice E. (Davison) Foster (deceased August 17, 2013).

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Foster of Baldwin City, Kansas; one daughter, Jona Leann Foster-Weber and husband Matthew of Georgia (currently residing in Israel); two granddaughters, Jessica Marie Nicholson and husband Greg of Cedartown, Georgia and Jasmine Danee Nix and husband Christian of Louisville, Colorado; and two great grandsons Michael and Ian Vest of Cedartown, Georgia.
