Judith M. (Spillman) Magerl, 81, of Pomona, Kansas died Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.
She was born December 18, 1942 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of William and Marjorie (Brown) Spillman. She graduated from Emporia High School with the class of 1961. Judith then went on to attend Kansas City Cosmetology School.
On January 2, 1965, Judith was united in marriage to Don Magerl, Sr. at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, OK. They shared fifty-nine years of marriage.
Judith worked as a beautician all of her life. She was also the office manager for Dr. Marvin Wollen, optometrist for 20 years, ending in 2004. She was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary of Ottawa.
She enjoyed cooking, especially for her family, to whom she was a loving mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and riding motorcycles, which she and Don, Sr. did in over 14 states.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marjorie Spillman, and two sisters, Peggy Miller-Stice and Edna Long.
She is survived by her husband, Don Magerl, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Dana Gechter and her husband, Michael, of Ottawa, KS; a son, Don Magerl, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Pomona, KS; a brother, Jim “Butch” Spillman of Eureka, KS; a sister, Mary Ann Place of Texarkana, TX; three grandchildren, Rebecka, Blake, and Lucas; and two great-grandchildren, Bridger and Lawson.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday July 22, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS.
