Kimberley Yanez Obituary

Kimberley Ann (Scharf) Yanez, 63, of Pomona, Ks went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2021 after her three-year cancer battle. Kim was born October 1st, 1957 in Hutchinson, Ks the daughter of James M. Scharf and Joann M. (Clark) Hill. She graduated from Osage City High School with the class of 1975.

Kim had a passion for crocheting, teaching Sunday school, gardening, writing, and directing the Christmas and Easter programs at Church and spoiling her grandkids. She also had a love for animals. 

After several years, Kim met her soulmate, her best friend, and the love of her life. Kim married Daniel Yanez of Pomona, KS on June 3rd, 2016. They shared almost five wonderful years together. Kim and Dan enjoyed teaching the youth group at Church, doing the bus route for Church, watching their KC Chiefs and KC Royals win, and most importantly, spending quality time with each other. 

She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Chasidy Amanda Gehring; dad James Scharf; stepdad: Edd L. Robinett; uncles: James (Jim) Clark and Gerald (Jerry) Berry and her grandparents.

Kim is survived by her loving husband Daniel (Danny) Yanez of the home; mom and step dad: Joann and Donald Hill of Pomona; step mom: Jane Scharf of Logansport, IN; daughters: Stacy (Gehring) Walstrom and husband Brian of Madison, KS; Melinda (Hoffman) Skea and husband Matthew of Merriam, KS; Amber (Hoffman) Vogeler and husband Eric of Melvern, KS; son: Nicholas Hoffman and wife Jacqueline of Osage City, KS; 3 step-sons: John (Chop) Yanez and wife Sandra of Mountain View, AR; Brian Yanez and wife Phylicia Kay of Pomona, KS; Garrett Yanez of Kansas City, MO; 2 brothers: Bradley Lareau and wife Maxine of Hurst, TX; Robby Robinett and wife Janice of Osage City, KS; 1 sister Brenda Rockers of Ottawa, KS; 1 step-brother Mark Hill and wife Rhonda Simms of Pomona, KS; a lifelong friend Kathryn Robbins of Little Rock, AR; several grandkids, great-grandkids, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19th at Countryside Baptist Church in Osage City, KS. The family will gather with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.  For those friends and family wanting to participate virtually, the service will be live streamed through the Countryside Baptist Church's Facebook Page
