Larry Leach Obituary

Larry Wayne Leach, 59, of Ottawa, KS, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 7, 1959 at Junction City, KS the son of Wayne Allison Leach and Pauline Fern (Soper) Leach. Larry was a lifelong Ottawa resident graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1977. Larry started selling auto parts at the age of 16 for local parts stores. He was an auto parts salesman working first for White's Auto Supply, Olathe, KS, then for Midway Auto Supply, Lawrence, KS, followed by AutoZone in Ottawa and finally Advance Auto parts in Ottawa where he served as the assistant manager until his retirement in 2007. Larry was a very well-known local artist for most of his life. For the past twelve years he had taught art classes at the Elizabeth Layton Center, a job he truly loved. Many of his works of art have been on display at various locations from local banks, Ransom Memorial Hospital, Franklin County Visitors Center, Pomona Library, and at the Art Museum of Topeka. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa and the Franklin County Art Guild. He loved to cheer on his Jayhawks during basketball season and was an avid and dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved to read and loved to be outdoors with his kids and grandkids, but most of his free time was dedicated to his artwork. It was a true passion for Larry. In 1976 Larry was united in marriage to Cathy Martin. They later divorced. In 1990, Larry was united in marriage to Janet Yakle in Ottawa. Janet survives of Ottawa. Larry is also survived by his children Dillon Leach and his wife, Samantha, Manhattan, Tosha Leach, Ottawa, Robert Leach and his wife, Jody, Williamsburg, Cassandra Leach and her husband, Kevin, Ottawa; sister Jill Orndorff and her husband, Rodney, Lawrence, KS; and ten grandchildren, Bailey, August, Mikala, Alexander, Emma, Rachel, Chevy, Sophia, Scarlet, and Ivory. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cindy Blanco-Ferguson; and a grandson, Caiden Leach. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday November 4, 2018 at the funeral home.
