Laura Mae (Fenton) Reves, 88, of Burlingame, KS died Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas.
She was born June 29, 1934 in Wheaton, Kansas the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Shaughnessy)Fenton. She attended eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse which was called Trowbridge. She then graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in Seneca, KS with the class of 1952.
On November 28, 1953, Laura was united in marriage to Donald Lyle Reves at St. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca, Kansas.
She drove a school bus for the Burlingame school district for 18 years and worked for the Department of Revenue office in Topeka, KS during tax season for 23 years.
She helped with 4-H sewing classes and square dancing. She also helped the children get their livestock to the fairs in Melvern, Overbrook, and Osage City.
They square danced for 40 plus years all over the state of Kansas, as well as neighboring states. They held many offices in Club level, Northeast district, and State level, 2 years as Vice-President and 2 years as President. In 2008, the National Square Dance Convention was held in Wichita, KS where she served as The Ways and Means Chairman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Rose Fenton; her husband, Donald Lyle Reves; a daughter, Joyce Greene; and a son, Stephen Reves.
She is survived by a son, Don Reves and his wife, Gloria, of Duncan, NE; a daughter, Denise Barr and her husband, Jack, of Carbondale, KS; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Reves of Wichita, KS; a son-in-law, Joe Greene of Carbondale, KS; two sisters, Rita Hulsing and Artis Broxterman; 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Osage City, KS. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Scranton, KS. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. followed by a visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Scranton, KS.
