Lawrence Leroy Bryan, Jr., 72, of Ottawa, Kansas died Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Azria Health in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born May 2, 1953 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Lawrence Leroy Bryan, Sr. and Evelyn Nadine (Wheeler) Bryan. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1971. He then went to Kansas State University for 2 years, where he played football.
On January 26, 1974, Lawrence was united in marriage to Joan Maycumber. They later divorced.
Lawrence worked for 19 years at Our Own Hardware in Ottawa helping build shelves for the original building and construction of the warehouse. He worked up from forklift operator to supervisor. Prior to Our own Hardware, Lawrence worked for Halliburton Oil in western Kansas. He performed a variety of tasks to include driving trucks and working on oil drilling rigs. After Our own Hardware, he conducted quality control on transmissions for Sauer-Danfoss in Lawrence. He was a member of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Franklin County Leadership Program and was a Franklin County Sheriff Reserve Deputy for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Evelyn Bryan.
He is survived by three sons, Lawrence Leroy Bryan III of Ottawa, KS, Jason Paul Bryan and his wife, Melissa, of Eudora, KS, and Matthew Kent Bryan and his wife, Amanda, of Manhattan, KS; a daughter, Hannah Marie Bryan of Baldwin City, KS; three sisters, Janet Barnett and her husband, Logan, of Perry, KS, Wanda Richards and her husband, Dennis, of Ottawa, KS, and Deborah Green and her husband, Milton, of Ottawa, KS; two brothers, John Bryan of Ottawa, KS and Timothy Bryan and his wife, Tammi, of Ottawa, KS; 9 grandchildren, Savannah, Adrienne, Gracie, Hunter, Ian, Cadence, Abigail, Cody, and Ellie; and a great-granddaughter, Lillianah.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday May 12, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS. To celebrate Lawrence’s life, a visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067.
