Lee Randel Obituary

William "Lee" Randel, 77, of Baldwin City, KS died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.

He was born April 7, 1943 in Baldwin City, Kansas the son of William and Thelma (Lederer) Randel.  He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1961.  Following graduation, he studied at Emporia State University for business.

He lived in Madison, KS and Columbia, SC before returning to Baldwin City.  He was a caregiver for his parents before their passing.  He worked as a Custodian for 10 years at USD 348 in Baldwin City.  He was a Supervisor for Food Distribution in South Carolina and was a supervisor for IBP in Emporia, KS.  While living in Madison, he ran a tavern. 

Lee was a sports lover, especially when it came to KU basketball.  He loved to converse over politics.  He loved working at the school.  He was a straight shooter, a soft-spoken man with a gentle and kind soul and a big laugh. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Thelma Randel; a sister, Dee Augustus; and a niece, Judy Farmer.

He is survived by a sister, Jeanie Frank and husband Arlen of Wellsville, KS; three brothers, Gary Randel and wife Kathy of Minneapolis, MN, Ron Randel and wife Joyce of Baldwin City, KS, and Wayne Randel and wife Marie of York, PA; an aunt, Carol Randel of Lawrence, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To celebrate Lee’s life, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ives Chapel Church and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
