Lena M Mitchell

Lena M. (Cox) Mitchell, 66, of Ottawa, KS died Sunday, July 30, 2023 in Ottawa, Kansas.

She was born July 2, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Mosie and Doris (Griffin) Cox. 

Lena was a bartender at the Dew Drop Inn in Osage City and the Hill until it closed.  She then worked at Sandbar until she was forced to retire.  She was also a caretaker for her mother.

Lena enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, fishing, and camping.  She loved her grandkids, and always took care of her family.  She was considered the cool aunt, and may or may not have allowed her nieces, Linda, Pam, and Angela, to get away with just about anything.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mosie Cox, and a brother, Jim Cox.

She is survived by her mother, Doris Cox of Ottawa, KS; three sons, Brian Criqui of Ottawa, KS, Terry Criqui of Ottawa, KS, and Tony Criqui of Pomona, KS; two sisters, Sue Houston and her husband, John, of Ottawa, KS, and Kay McCurdy and her husband, Jim, of Ottawa, KS; 9 grandchildren, Taylor, Kaetlyn, Allie, Connor, Coby, Cayden, Madison, Gracie, and Quintona; a great-grandson, Wyatt; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Lena Mitchell Memorial Fund and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
