Leona H Sims

Leona H. Sims, 96, of Scranton, KS died Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in Overbrook, Kansas.

She was born June 11, 1929 in Scranton, KS the daughter of George Krallman and Beatrice (Carney) Krallman.

In March of 1947, Leona was united in marriage to Floyd Calvin Sims.

Leona started working at General Merchandise Distributors as a warehouse packer in 1966 and enjoyed her job. She would retire in 2004. 

Outside of work she was a big Keno player, she enjoyed gardening, and she loved to bake desserts for others. She also enjoyed walking when she had free time. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Scranton and took her faith seriously. 

Leona also held memberships in Scranton at the V.F.W., Lion’s Auxiliary, and Legion Auxiliary organizations. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Krallman and Beatrice (Carney) Krallman; her loving husband, Floyd Calvin Sims; one son, Billy Sims; one daughter, Betty Bame; four brothers, Jim, Bob, Leroy, and John; and two sisters, Wuanita and Libby. 

Leona is survived by three sons, Jerry Sims and wife Pam of Ball Ground, GA, Eddie Sims and wife Lauri of Canton, GA, and Robert Sims and wife Elaine of Kansas City, MO; one son-in-law, Jerry Bame of Scranton, KS; and one daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Sims of Ball Ground, GA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday June 1, 2026 at Scranton Cemetery in Scranton, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W of Scranton, KS and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
