Linda Morgan Schild, 75, of Baldwin City, Kansas, ascended to her heavenly reward on July 22nd at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, Kansas.
Born on August 6th, 1947 to O. Scott and Miriam Morgan, within the first year of her life she beat all odds and survived both polio and meningitis. Despite the lingering handicaps she experienced, she graduated from Baldwin High in 1965 and attended Saint Luke's to become a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1969. She married that same year and moved to Chicago where she raised her girls until they returned to Kansas in 1987. From there Linda spent her life dedicated to the care of the elderly until her retirement.
Linda loved suncatchers, having a vast collection of colorful stained glass adorning her windows for every season. She enjoyed gardening, creating beautiful pots of blooming flowers and plants she loved to refer to as her peace gardens. She helped rescue and loved both her eskie dogs, Lucky and Dakota, who no doubt are happy to have her with them again. All dogs go to Heaven, after all! She was an avid sports fan, always seen in her favorite rocking chair, cheering on her teams. Football, baseball, basketball, hockey and golf, the sport didn’t matter, she loved it.
Linda was a dedicated nurse and wonderful mother who always made sure her children knew they were loved unconditionally. She treated her patients with great care, dignity, and respect in their final years, delighting in their stories, always sneaking gifts to them when she could, and bringing her children with her to visit them. She was dedicated to life, all life, even pulling over to the side of a road to help a turtle get to the other side.
She was a lifelong Methodist, a member of Chapter CK of P.E.O., and an enthusiast of anything to do with Maple Leaf and Baldwin City where she was born and raised. She was a resilient, passionate soul, overcoming any challenge presented to her in a way that inspired the people around her.
She is survived by her children, Chris Schild (Steve) and Elizabeth Bucklin (Brian), her sisters Marcia Till (David) and Margi Walbridge, her brother Scott Morgan and her granddaughters, Ruby and Josie. She is preceded in death by her parents, O. Scott and Miriam Morgan and her brother-in-law, Gary Walbridge.
Services will be held Saturday, August 5th at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, 704 8th Street, Baldwin City, burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial gifts to the First United Methodist Church of Baldwin City (https://baldwinfirst.org/give ), Eskie Rescuers United https://www.eskierescuers.org/info/donate). On many occasions, Linda had mentioned that she wished she could have added to her granddaughters, Ruby and Josie’s, college funds. If anyone is interested in helping her do so, checks can be made out to American Funds or to her daughter, Beth Bucklin, and she will see that the money goes into their 529 accounts.
