Lyndell Jane Beauchamp, 88, of Ottawa, KS passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 peacefully in her sleep with family present.
She was born October 15, 1933 on the family farm outside Ottawa, KS the daughter of John Frederick Staadt and (Mary) Elizabeth Staadt. She graduated from Ottawa High School in May of 1951 and attended Ottawa University before following her future husband, Jack, to Kansas State University.
Lyndell married Jack Eugene Beauchamp in August 1954. After two years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where their first daughter Jacque was born they moved back to the Staadt family farm outside Ottawa. Lyndell became a devoted mother and a farm wife as she worked alongside Jack, John and Elizabeth and their three children Jacque, Gene and Keenan. Lyndell and Jack spent 54 years of devoted marriage to each other until Jack passed on September 21, 2007.
“Mom” was active with the farm all of her life with the bragging rights of being born in the same house and on the same farm where she lived most of her life. She rarely missed any of the kids’ music concerts, sporting events or 4-H meetings. There wasn’t a tractor on the farm she couldn’t hop on and drive and after moving the seat forward she was headed to town with a load of grain in the truck.
She was a devoted lifelong member of Richter United Methodist Church where she and Jack were married and she was the pianist for over 30 years. In addition to mother and farm wife she later worked in accounting at United Parcel Service.
Lyndell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, sisters Dorothy and Evelyn and her grandson Andrew Beauchamp.
She is survived by three children Jacque Carlson and her husband, Rick of Ottawa, Gene Beauchamp and his wife, Stephanie of Ottawa and Keenan Beauchamp of Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Richter United Methodist Church on May 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm followed by a gathering of family at the farm where “Mom’s” ashes will be spread with Dad’s. Memorial contributions may be made to Richter United Methodist Church, Camp Chippewa or Franklin County Cancer Society and sent in c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
