Marcia L Cope

Marcia Lynn Cope, 66, of Lakeside, CA passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital, San Diego, CA.  She was born September 16, 1956 in Topeka, KS the daughter of Jack Alvin Fleer Sr. and Patricia Joan (DeGraff) Fleer. 

Marcia was united in marriage to Benny Ray Cope on March 31, 2001 in Descanso, CA.  They shared over twenty years of marriage before the death of her husband on November 4, 2021.

Marcia worked in the housekeeping department of The Alpine Treatment Center. 

She worshipped at the Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa, CA and was a member of the V.F.W. in Alpine, CA along with her husband.

She enjoyed playing Bingo and BBQ’s at the V.F.W. but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benny; a daughter, Trisha Lynn Fleer; and two sisters, Juanita Marie Haynes and Cynthia Ann Hickman.

Surviving family includes three daughters, Towanda Jo Fleer-Sauer (James Edgar Sauer) of Santee, CA, Heather Ann Roberts (John Charles Roberts) of Carbondale, KS, and Holly Ann Peak of Topeka, KS; a sister, Cheryle Annette Sanders of Meriden, KS; two brothers, Terry Wilhelm Fleer and Jack Alvin Fleer Jr. both of Topeka, KS; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Drive, Overbrook, KS 66524. Interment will follow at the Topeka Cemetery, Topeka, KS.  The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. before the service hour.  Memorial contributions may be made to Towanda Fleer-Sauer or Heather Roberts and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
