Marilyn V. Gast, 79, of Overbrook, KS passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, KS.
She was born July 1, 1942 in Harveyville, KS the daughter of Norman and Melva (Lewis) Foster. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1960.
She was united in marriage to Ronald E. (Ron) Gast, June 10, 1961 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waverly, KS. They shared over fifty-two years of marriage before the passing of her husband, Ron on June 16, 2013.
Ron and Marilyn moved to the Scranton Community in 1963, Marilyn was a Cook at Santa Fe Trail USD 434 for twenty-five years before retiring in 2004.
Marilyn was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Scranton, KS where she served on the Alter Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Penny Ard of Topeka, KS, Marsha Goodyear and husband, Tadd of Overbrook, KS and Elizabeth Gamblin and husband, Danny of Overbrook, KS; a son, Joseph Gast and wife, Penny of Scranton, KS; a brother, Ronald Foster and wife, Vickie of Grain Valley, MO; and a sister-in-law, Michelle Foster of Burlington, KS; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Marvin Foster; and her husband, Ronald Gast.
A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. followed by a Visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 400 East Bracken St., Scranton, KS 66537. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 303 S. 6th Street, Osage City, KS 66523. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waverly, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waverly, KS and sent to Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
