Melinda Jo Burgoon

Melinda Jo Burgoon, 69, of Garnett, Kansas died Saturday, March 8, 2025 at her home.

She was born August 30, 1955 in Ottawa, Kansas the daughter of Donald Burgoon and Betty (Boone) Yakley.  She graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1973. 

Melinda worked for C.O.F. along with bartending at the V.F.W. in Paola and working as a cashier at Walmart. 

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading, and absolutely loved puzzle books.  You could often find her playing casino games on her phone, as well as playing games on her Nintendo like Zelda and Resident Evil.  She also loved her casino trips. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Burgoon and Betty Yakley, and a daughter, Stephanie Sitlington. 

She is survived by four sons, Travis Schulz and his wife, Kathleen, of Lee’s Summit, MO, Donovan Sitlington of Garnett, KS, Levi Sitlington of Salina, KS, and Jacob Burgoon of Westwood, KS; two daughters, Samantha Owens and her husband, Mickey, of Garnett, KS and Betty Jo Ricard and her husband, Michael, of Carson City, NV; a sister, Kathy Cragg of Paola, KS; and 12 grandchildren.
