Monica Z. Prim of Overbrook, KS passed away on February 17, 2023 at the age of 91 at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, KS.
She was born July 11, 1931 in Nebraska City, NE the daughter of Carl and Theresa Helen (Ramold) Zeiner. Monica grew up in Nebraska graduating from high school. She then graduated from Nebraska State Teacher College, Peru, NE and taught elementary school in Nebraska, Topeka, KS, and Overbrook, KS. Later she was a P.T.F. clerk at the Overbrook Post Office.
Monica’s interests were in all forms of Home Ec where she loved baking, cooking, keeping house, knitting, sewing and especially quilting. She played the organ for almost fifty years for funerals weddings and masses at St. Francis of Assisi at LaPeer, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Monica was a charter member of the Santa Fe Quilters Guild and also a member of Overbrook American Legion Auxiliary. Monica enjoyed her life and was involved in many community activities. She often said she really liked living in the country but wasn’t a “farmer”.
On June 9, 1956 Monica was married to Robert J. Prim at Nebraska City, NE. They shared forty-four years of loving marriage until Robert preceded her in death on February 10, 2001.
Monica is survived by her daughter, Pamela J (Prim) Leonard and husband Kevin A. Leonard of Rising Sun, MD; son Matthew J. Prim of Overbrook, KS; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Private services will be held. Monica will be interred at Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Douglas County, KS.
