Nancy Ann Peterson, 76, of Lawrence, KS died Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS from complications after heart surgery.
She was born December 19, 1944 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Robert Nelson and Winifred June (Schwartz) Nelson. Nancy graduated from high school in the Kansas City area with the class of 1962. She later attended Johnson County Community College and graduated from St. Cloud University, St. Cloud, MN with a B.A.
Nancy loved living in many locations over her lifetime. She lived in Chicago, IL, Olathe, KS, Coon Rapids, MN, Axtell, KS, St. Cloud, MN, Topeka, KS, Fort Dodge, IA, Ottawa, KS, and recently, Lawrence, KS.
On March 19, 1964, Nancy was united in marriage to Robert Clark Phippen, in the Kansas City area. Robert preceded her in death in May of 1985. In July of 1996 Nancy married Cliff Peterson. Cliff preceded her in death in the fall of 1998.
Nancy owned a Day Care Center and a restaurant named Pogey’s in Olathe, KS with her husband Robert. She later worked at King Radio, Olathe and then was an administrative assistant for AT&T for twenty years retiring at the age of fifty-five.
She loved to read and had just started to quilt. She walked regularly and she truly enjoyed playing cards with her friends and tending to her plants.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Robert Phippen, Cliff Peterson; and her son, Jeffrey Clark Phippen.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Webster, Ottawa, KS; companion, Patrick Shannon, Lawrence, KS; and aunt, Barbara Westberg, Sycamore, IL.
