Norma Gene “Woodworth” Lehman was surrounded by loving family when she departed this life to be with the Lord on April 21, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City. She was born in Holly, Colorado, on October 9, 1930 to Harry P. Woodworth and Emma Etta Brase Woodworth.
She was united in marriage to Donald Sherwood Lehman in Miami, Oklahoma on January 25, 1961. They resided in Ottawa, KS where they raised their five children. She had the patience of a saint which was tested daily by her children. She was a homemaker who not only took care of her children, but opened her heart and her home to all the neighborhood kids. She greeted them every day after school with homemade treats.
Norma Gene cherished her family. All the grandchildren had a special relationship with her and each still believe they were her favorite. Norma cared a lot about education which led her to spend much of her time teaching the grandkids a variety of skills, such as reading, cooking and sewing.
An avid animal lover, she always had pets in her home and would even feed the neighborhood strays. She didn’t have the heart to turn any animal away.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Emma Woodworth, husband Donald Lehman, sister Fern Gleaves Woodworth, brother Alvin Harry Woodworth, grandchild Kyle Scott Lehman, great grandchildren, Aliya Cooper and Cheyanne Craven.
Norma is survived by her daughter Donna (Lester) McGaugh of Westwood, KS, son Stephen Lehman of Ottawa, KS, daughter Robyn (James) Berr of Ottawa, KS, son Scott (Jessica) Lehman of Lenexa, KS, son Jeffery Lehman of Ottawa, KS; fourteen grandchildren Chasity (Maina), Lester (Jessica), Brandon (Julie), Lisa, Laura, Leslie, Cody (Krystina), Kellie (T.J.), Ashley, Jamie, Sterling, Kolton, Sebastian, Sofia; and 21 great grandchildren.
