Norma Jean (Schulte) Stein

Norma Jean Stein, 75, of Baldwin City, Kansas died Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in Baldwin City, KS.

She was born August 16, 1946 in Spearville, KS, the daughter of Henry Schulte and Mary Norma (Hess) Schulte.  She grew up on the family farm in Spearville and graduated from Spearville High School with the class of 1964. 

On June 3, 1967, Norma Jean was united in marriage to Valen Stein in Spearville, KS. They shared fifty-one years of loving marriage together.

She worked for Crustbuster Speedking making parts for farm equipment for twenty-eight years and Spearville Mercantile for three years before moving to Baldwin City to be closer to family.

Norma loved being with her family and never missed attending their sporting events and numerous other activities. She enjoyed crochet, sewing, and quilting. She could be heard tapping on her tablet at all hours completing yet another paint-by-number masterpiece.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Valen Stein, her parents, Henry and Mary Schulte, a sister, Ethel Schlereth, and a brother, Ronald Schulte.

Norma is survived by four children, Marlene Stein of Oklahoma City, OK, Alan Stein and his wife Katia of Hill City, KS, Brenda Parsons and her husband, Kenny of Baldwin City, Sheila Trebilcock and her husband Thad of Baldwin City; eleven grandchildren, Bryce and his wife Teghan, Willie and his wife Kelsey, Breanna and Dakota, Demetrius, Darius, John, Kendra, Alexia and her husband Tristan, Brett, Kalan, Alak; eight great grandchildren, Beckett, Brayven, Hunter, Myrius, Rozlynn, Kandence, Kendrixx, and Kelani; four brothers, Dallas Schulte of Wright, KS, Merl Schulte of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Albert Schulte of Milford, KS, George Schulte of Spearville, KS; three sisters, Arlene Stude of Dodge City, KS, Darlene Rucker of Spearville, KS, and Charlene Halling of Spearville, KS.

A graveside celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Fort Dodge Veterans’ Cemetery, Dodge City, KS.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
